How to Register

  1. Participants must be Indonesian citizens/native speakers or possess an Indonesian passport.
  2. Registration: Available at your nearest English 1 Center starting October 1st, 2025. Each participant may register at only one center.
  3. Anyone who registers on our website will be contacted by a member of our team, who will assist them in finding the nearest center.
  4. Pay the Registration Fee: Details regarding payment methods will be provided on the registration on each center.
  5. All the winner from each center, will get confirmation email once each center register the finalist.
  6. Receive Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email with important details about your National Competition.
  7. Read the Official Rules: Ensure you understand all competition guidelines and eligibility criteria.

1. How do I register for the 18th Regional Spelling Bee competition?

Yes, the 18th Regional Spelling Bee is open to the public. Participants may register through any English 1 Center.

No. Participants are not allowed to register multiple times at different centers.

The Spelling Bee consists of three main stages:

  1. Preliminary Round – conducted in written form.
  2. Semifinal Round – also written, with a higher difficulty level.
  3. Final Round – conducted orally, where the Announcer presents the prompts in a word–sentence–word format. Participants must spell the word correctly in front of the judges.

Yes. All registered participants who join the competition will receive an official participation certificate. Winners will receive winner certificates, and additional prizes may vary depending on each organizing center’s policy.

Both British and American spellings are accepted. The competition uses the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English as the primary reference.

The competition is open to Elementary School (SD) and Junior High School (SMP) students (or equivalent) from across Indonesia. Each category has its own age and grade requirements based on the official competition guidelines. Participants must be Indonesian citizens and provide a birth certificate or passport as proof of identity.

Participants will go through the following stages:

  1. Register at their respective English 1 Center (or the nearest center) to join the Regional Spelling Bee.
  2. Regional winners from each category will qualify for the National Spelling Bee.
  3. The re-registration process for the National level will be fully assisted by the English 1 Center where the participant is registered.
  4. If a qualified participant is unable to attend the National Competition, their spot may be replaced by the fourth-place winner from the Regional round.

Travel and accommodation costs for the National Competition are not covered by English 1.
All expenses related to transportation, lodging, and personal needs are the responsibility of the participant and/or their accompanying parent(s).
English 1 will provide recommended accommodation options and the event schedule to help participants plan their trip.

English 1 recommends a three-day stay, as follows:

  • D -1: Arrival and technical preparation; also familiarize yourself with the route to the venue.
  • D-Day: National Competition Day.
  • D +1: Return trip to your home city.
