Regional FAQ

How do I register for the competition?

You can register on this website spellingbee.english1.co.id or visit our nearest center. You can only register once and cannot register at multiple centers.

Yes. It is open to the public, for both English 1 students and non-English 1 students.

Category

  • Group A: Elementary Grades 1 and 2
  • Group B: Elementary Grades 3 and 4
  • Group C: Elementary Grades 5 and 6
  • Group D: Junior High Grades 1, 2 and 3

Requirements

  • Indonesian citizen (proven by Birth Certificate/Passport)
  • Only register once at a single English 1 Center (applicable to English 1 or Non-English 1 Student).

Yes. Your child is still eligible to register as long as they meet the category and requirements.

Fees vary by center, ranging between IDR 100,000 and IDR 250,000.

  1. Registration
    There are two ways to register your child:
    • Website: submit your details online and our team will contact you to complete the registration.
    • Center: visit your nearest English 1 center to register in person.

      Note: PARTICIPANTS CANNOT REGISTER MULTIPLE TIMES. IF A PARTICIPANT IS CAUGHT REGISTERING AT MULTIPLE CENTERS, THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM MOVING TO THE NEXT STAGE.

  2. Regional Competition
    Competition Format
    The competition will consist of three rounds:
    • Preliminary Round – Written
    • Semi-Final Round – Written
    • Final Round – Spoken

      Top 3 winners from each group (A, B, C, and D) will be invited to the National competition in Jakarta.

      Note: If one of the winners withdraws, the 4th winner will be invited to fill the spot.
  1. National Competition Registration
    Regional winners will be contacted by their center team to submit supporting documents, including:
    • Parent/Guardian Full Name
    • Parent/Guardian WhatsApp Number
    • Parent/Guardian Email Address
    • HD/Clear Photo for participant

      This information will be used to generate your National Participant Identification (ID). Your Digital ID and all competition details will be sent directly via WhatsApp and email. Please ensure your submitted details are correct to prevent system errors.


  2. National Competition
    • The national event will take place in Jakarta.
    • Participants must register according to their Group batch schedule (schedule to be updated) and must present their Birth Certificate and Digital ID for re-registration on-site.
    • Participants will compete in three rounds:
      • Preliminary Round – Written
      • Semi-Final Round – Written
      • Final Round – Spoken

No. Winning the regional competition makes your child eligible to compete in the National Competition, where they can become a finalist.

No. Participants are only allowed to register once and cannot register at multiple centers. However, if you haven’t registered at any center yet and only missed the registration deadline, you may register at another center. Please check the schedule on our website.

National FAQ

When and where will the National Competition take place?

It will take place in Jakarta during the second week of January 2027. The exact venue will be updated later.

No. Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by English 1.

We recommend a 3-day, 2-night stay. Although the competition itself takes place on a single day, arriving early allows you to familiarize yourself with the venue and local transportation routes ahead for the competition early morning registration.

Winners of the 19th National Spelling Bee will receive official prizes and recognition from English 1 Indonesia and its participating partners. Furthermore, winners are entitled to have their competition certificate registered into the Puspresnas (National Achievement Center) system, under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen).

What is Puspresnas?

Puspresnas (Pusat Prestasi Nasional) is an officially endorsed national talent platform under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). It evaluates, curates, and recognizes premier student events and achievements in Indonesia.

Puspresnas recognition elevates a local achievement into an official government-backed record, opening several key doors for your child:

  • Jalur Prestasi (JAPRES) Advantage: Winners can use their Puspresnas-recognized achievements to apply for prestigious junior high schools, senior high schools, or universities through official achievement admission pathways.
  • Official Government Database (SIPRESNAS): Your child’s credentials are saved in the national student database, officially validating their achievement nationwide.
  • Scholarship Eligibility: Significantly boosts eligibility for national academic scholarships (such as Beasiswa Indonesia Maju) as well as local education grants.
  • Top-Tier Distinction: The 18th Annual English 1 National Spelling Bee holds a 4-Star Puspresnas rating, placing it on par with prestigious national competitions like OSN, LKIR, NYIA, and KoPSI.

To receive a Puspresnas certification, your child must first qualify as a top 10 finalist at the National Competition. Once eligible, certificates are processed in two ways:

  • Official Registration: The English 1 Indonesia team will assist in submitting and registering the official competition results for top 10 finalists directly into the Puspresnas system.
  • School Curation Platform: Alternatively, parents can submit the certificate independently through their child’s school via the official Kurasi Prestasi Talenta portal ([https://kurasi-prestasi.kemendikdasmen.go.id/login](https://kurasi-prestasi.kemendikdasmen.go.id/login)).

No. Puspresnas certificate curation for the Spelling Bee is reserved exclusively for National winners and the top 10 National finalists.

The English 1 Indonesia team will assist with the official registration process for the 19th National Spelling Bee results into the Puspresnas system. The certificate registration and national recognition are only applicable to the National winners and the top 10 National finalists.

Participants can also register the certificate independently through their respective schools via the Kurasi Prestasi Talenta page under Kemendikdasmen.
